Summer Stash

On to more summery projects.

I haven’t yet finished the shorts I started in May 🙁 , but I did complete an absolutely stunning (if I must say so myself) polo t-shirt in cotton dk (3-weight) yarn. I absolutely love this t-shirt–it feels nice and soft and super comfortable, and is a throwback to my teen years in the 1970’s.

I also completed a WIP I had started a couple of summers ago when I attended a summer ‘hawaiian’ party…it worked okay for the party, but needed a bit of an upgrade in finishing. I added the bottom granny-square trim, re-sewed the sleeves to loosen up the fit, added pockets, and wove in a bunch of loose ends:

I also got into making trios of cosmetic bags, to use up my yarn stash and create cool travel/storage/everything zipped (and lined) bags to help organize anything from unmentionables to balls of yarn:

An update to the corduroy sweater I’m working on – halfway there…I have the back and one sleeve completed. This is really a project that I need to steam through, since once I get away from the fisherman’s rib knitting, it takes me a bit to get back into it…I’m better off just keeping at it so that I can speed along without re-learning the skill:

And…I complete a project that is yarn-related, but not crochet or knit-related. I stripped down a lampshade to the frame, then weaved various complementary yarn colours around the frame vertically to create a new look for the lampshade.

I ordered a swag lamp kit from Walmart online, then hung the revamped lamp.

It worked out great–a new (to me) and updated lamp for very little $$ (as compared with what I would have paid for a comparable new lamp):
